People flock to buy BOI Fair 2011 souvenirs
Sales increase every day as many opt for them as New Year gifts
The sales of BOI Fair 2011 souvenirs in the first four days grew to Bt600,000. During weekend, the sales went steep, seeing backrest pillows, elephant dolls, and umbrellas were among favorites. Some of the buyers purchased them to be New Year gifts.
Ms. Chitra Kulavanich, chairperson of producing and selling souvenirs at BOI Fair 2011: Going Green for the Future, said, “Since BOI Fair 2011 souvenirs were up for sales officially from 5-8 January, 2012, the sales from 12 areas covering the BOI Fair 2011 space have increased to Bt600,000. The sales records have been growing about 30 per cent and stronger during weekends since hundreds of thousands of people visiting the fair.
The top five most sold items at BOI Fair 2011 were backrest pillows, 15-inch elephant dolls, 10-inch elephants dolls, foldable bags, and caps. Most buyers opted for the use of the items. They were mostly family members, workers, and students. Some groups of buyers bought certain kinds of souvenirs such as keychains, refrigerator magnets, ceramic glass,” she said.
Visitors to BOI Fair 2011 can find the souvenirs from eights spots around outdoor exhibition space and those around indoor exhibition space in buildings (Challengers 1-3) and four more spots around the entrance of the event. There are 18 items to choose from, such as round-neck t-shirts, foldable bags, umbrellas, pins, and sandstone elephant dolls, etc.
